DTP Mining recently deployed four fully electric SANY off-highway mining trucks at the Kibali Gold Mine project in the Democratic Republic of the Congo.
The battery-electric trucks will operate on the ROM (run-of-mine) pad at the Kibali Gold Mine, hauling mined material with zero tailpipe emissions.
The deployment reflects the global mining industry's accelerating shift toward electric, low-carbon hauling, as mine operators replace diesel fleets with fully electric trucks to cut emissions and operating costs.
The four-truck fleet marks a further step in SANY's growing presence in the electric off-highway mining equipment segment in Africa.
Gold producers in Africa face rising pressure to cut scope-one emissions and reduce exposure to diesel price swings. Battery-electric haulers on fixed run-of-mine pads are often the first electrification step, because routes are short and predictable and charging infrastructure stays simpler than on long pit cycles.
