A New Local Manufacturing Campus Opens in Johannesburg

November 19, 2025

The SANY South Africa Industrial Park was officially completed in Johannesburg. Construction began in 2023, and the 28,000-square-meter facility is expected to produce 1,000 excavators annually. Integrating manufacturing, logistics, and talent development functions, the park will further support South Africa’s manufacturing sector and industrialization process.

The park brings three functions together on one campus: local manufacturing, logistics and talent development. Producing equipment locally shortens delivery lead times for customers across the region, while also creating local jobs and helping to build up the surrounding supply chain.

The facility will produce SANY’s excavator family, which covers a broad range from compact and mid-sized machines to large equipment, including the SY215C, SY365H and SY500H. With an expected annual output of 1,000 excavators, the park gives SANY a stronger local production base to meet demand from South Africa and neighboring markets.

Beyond manufacturing, the completion of the park supports South Africa’s industrialization process and strengthens SANY’s sales and service network across the country and the wider southern African region, bringing customers closer support and faster access to SANY equipment.

South Africa's industrial policy has pushed localization as a way to retain jobs and shorten lead times for mining and construction equipment. An assembly campus that pairs production with a skills centre also builds the local dealer workforce needed to keep regional fleets running productively.
