Recently, the SANY Heavy Truck Functional Safety System Development and Certification Project successfully passed the joint final audit by CATARC Huacheng Certification and TÜV NORD (Europe). This achievement marks SANY’s heavy-truck functional safety management at a world-leading level.
Functional safety is a systematic safety discipline that runs through the entire lifecycle of a truck, covering design, development, verification and production. Its goal is to ensure that, even when a fault occurs, the vehicle continues to operate in a safe state, protecting drivers, cargo and surrounding traffic.
The final audit was carried out jointly by CATARC Huacheng Certification from China and TÜV NORD from Europe, two of the world’s most authoritative certification bodies. Passing their joint review means SANY’s functional safety management system has been recognized by both Chinese and European authorities, strengthening the international credibility of SANY heavy trucks for customers worldwide.
Functional safety requirements become even more demanding for new-energy and intelligent heavy trucks, where electrified powertrains and advanced control systems rely on complex electronic architectures. SANY’s new-energy heavy-truck lineup, including the SE588 electric heavy-duty truck and the SYZ445C electric dump truck, directly benefits from this certified safety system. Looking ahead, the certification will also support SANY’s entry into overseas markets that require formal functional safety approval for heavy-duty vehicles.
As electric and intelligent trucks add more electronic control units, functional safety moves from an engineering detail to a market-entry requirement. Independent audits of design, development and production processes give fleet buyers the same assurance on new-energy trucks that they have long expected from conventional diesels.
