The East-West Highway, Built with a Complete SANY Fleet

A Trans-National Highway Corridor

Launched in 2009 and valued at $11.2 bn, the East-West Highway ranks among the biggest road schemes on the African continent. It runs the full width of Algeria, linking the country's main cities and carrying cross-regional freight and passenger traffic.

Major contractors on the scheme included CRCC and CITI. A corridor of this length calls for equipment covering every construction stage: earthmoving and grading, compaction, asphalt and concrete placing, plus drilled foundations for bridges and intersections.

Across the corridor, machines took on several work fronts at once: pump trucks and mixer trucks for structures, graders, rollers and pavers for the roadway itself, and rotary drilling rigs for foundation piling - one multi-product fleet from start to finish. Running one brand across earthworks, paving and concrete simplifies parts stocking and operator training on long corridors, a practical advantage on projects that stretch hundreds of kilometres across varied terrain.
